Insanity or delusion is defined as when the individual is so caught up in his thoughts, that he takes them to be real. The thoughts are his identity. Then these thoughts rule him and control him and he will act on them as if they reality.
Conversely, sanity is when the person is not caught up in thoughts and sees that thought is illusion only, and does not represent reality at all.
The individuals awareness is lost in thought illusions, which are not real, as if he is in a trance. This trance state is very much like a hypnotized state, whereby the individual under the control of thought, as he is unconsciously identified with it. He has forgotten who he is and is lost. He is not aware of this. When he remembers who he really is, Pure awareness, then he comes out of trance and comes back to reality.
